Alf Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Group
The Alf. Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Group operates in the field of sales, distribution and marketing of a wide range of food and allied grocery products primarily to the retail sector (supermarkets, grocers, etc.) and also to the foodservice sector.
The products are divided into 3 temperature regimes - ambient, chilled and frozen - each having different storage and distribution arrangements. The Group has been, and continues to be, market leader in the supermarket and grocery sector. It operates from its premises at Zachary House in Marsa, which includesoffices and warehouses (ambient, chilled and frozen).
The emphasis is on marketing branded products, mainly via advertising and various other promotional activities.
Today the Group employs a highly trained workforce of circa 300 people and operates a Quality Management system which complies with the requirements of ISO 9001: 2008 + HACCP and OHSAS 18000.
The Group won the Quality in People Award in 1996 and the People Management and Satisfaction Award for 2002.
Over the years the Group invested heavily in technology, staff development, infrastructure, and quality standards, to secure its place as market leader. The Group's past achievements provide its Board of Directors and Management team with an invaluable source of confidence in an increasingly competitive marketplace.
Who we are
The Alf. Mizzi & Sons (Marketing) Group was set up in 1986 but its origins date back to 1915 when Alfred Mizzi, the founder, set up a modest importation business.
From its inception in 1915 until the early 1960s, the Firm Alf. Mizzi & Sons was a small family-run business importing food, shoes, household goods and other products, servicing Malta's small market. It was only after Malta's independence in the mid-1960s and its subsequent economic growth, that Alfred Mizzi's sons started to diversify.
The next phase of expansion coincided with the advent of the third generation. Starting in the early 1980s, the AMS Group has since expanded into different areas: manufacturing, computers and office equipment, retailing, real estateand hotels while expanding its import and distribution activities in the food sector.
